The founder of The Sydow Firm and a Texas native, Michael D. Sydow has been certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he represents clients throughout the greater Houston metropolitan area. Admitted to practice in Texas since 1976, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition, Mr. Sydow has appeared pro hac vice in other state and federal courts around the country.

Mr. Sydow has a varied practice that encompasses several areas of the law. He has worked on cases involving intellectual property disputes, divorce and other family law matters, insurance coverage, finance, international business transactions and related litigation, energy and utilities regulation, personal injury and wrongful death, whistleblower qui tam claims, admiralty law, defamation, and contract disputes. In addition, Mr. Sydow has provided defense representation for clients who have been accused by the state or federal government of having committed serious criminal offenses.

Mr. Sydow has long been held in high regard by his colleagues for his successful track record and high degree of ethics. Among his awards and honors are an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 “Superb” peer-review rating through Avvo. After graduating with honors from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, Mr. Sydow served his country as an attorney with the United States Navy, trying several contract claims before returning to civilian life. He is a fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation and is a member of several other professional groups.
