Monica Uddin is a University of Chicago Law School graduate who provides clients with a technology background and valuable litigation experience, including prior work for a federal judge and extensive legal efforts aiding the poor.

She clerked at three large law firms where she gained experience in contract, patent, and defamation litigation issues among others. She has also served as an intern for U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia in the Western District of Texas and for the Stanford University Office of General Counsel.

In her first months as a lawyer, Ms. Uddin gave part of the opening presentation in the mediation of a business defamation case and argued two motions for summary judgment. Soon after she succeeded in winning summary judgment in a multimillion dollar contract case. Ms. Uddin also argued successfully to defeat a temporary injunction in a property case.

In addition to her focus on effective litigation strategies, Ms. Uddin has devoted significant time to helping the less fortunate. She’s served two different stints at the Mississippi Center for Justice where her work included aiding Hurricane Katrina victims. Her experience also includes a clerkship with the Chicago Legal Assistance Foundation.

She was honored in law school as a Levitan Scholar and as an award-winning member of the Hinton Moot Court. She also served as a staff member of the Chicago Journal of International Law.

A native of San Antonio, prior to attending law school, she worked in IT support for a company that provides technological solutions for medical and rehabilitative problems.

Her undergraduate degree from Stanford University, where she served on the Constitutional Council, is in a blend of computer science, linguistics and philosophy.

  • In 2011, won a $2 million summary judgment plus attorneys’ fees in a breach-of-contract case in Harris County. The Houston-based client had been sued by an Arizona company for failing to pay as promised under terms of a gold-refining business contract.
  • In 2012, helped Fort Bend County win a take-nothing defense judgment in a civil rights lawsuit filed by a former sheriff’s department employee who claimed his First Amendment  and Fourteenth Amendment rights were violated when he was fired in 2010.
