R. Todd Bennett is the founder and sole practitioner of his firm located in Houston, Texas. With a practice that focuses exclusively on criminal defense, he provides counsel to clients throughout the greater Houston area in such matters as violent crimes, domestic violence, fraud, theft charges, white collar crimes and drug charges. Mr. Bennett also assists clients with expungements, grand jury investigations and alleged probation violations, and has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in criminal law.
In 1987, Mr. Bennett graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree. He then went on to obtain his law degree from South Texas College of Law, graduating cum laude in 1991. While in law school, Mr. Bennett was named to the Order of the Lytae and was a member of the international legal honor society Phi Delta Phi.
After graduation from law school, Mr. Bennett worked with the Office of District Attorney of Harris County, Texas, then as chief prosecutor for the city of Southside Place in Harris County. Having also served as a presiding judge in Harris County since 2000, Mr. Bennett has gained unique and valuable insights for his criminal defense practice. In recognition of his track record and ethics, Martindale-Hubbell has awarded Mr. Bennett its AV-Preeminent* rating.
Admitted to practice in Texas, Mr. Bennett is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
