Richard Kuniansky

Richard Kuniansky is a criminal defense attorney in Houston, Texas. Mr. Kuniansky is the founder of the Law Offices of Richard Kuniansky and has over 44 years of legal experience. He primarily concentrates his practice on federal, tax and white collar criminal defense and has ample trial experience.

Mr. Kuniansky has been a practicing attorney since 1978 and has experience as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. Over his career, he has tried hundreds of jury trials, securing reduced or dismissed charges for his clients. His experience as a prosecutor provides him with insight in how prosecutors approach a case, which allows him to tailor his defense strategy appropriately as a criminal defense attorney.

Since founding his own criminal defense firm in 1992, Mr. Kuniansky has successfully defended clients in major criminal cases. He is certified in criminal law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is AV Preeminent* peer-review rated through Martindale-Hubbell. Additionally, in 2019, Houstonia magazine named him a “Top Criminal Defense Attorney.”

Outside of his criminal defense practice, Mr. Kuniansky is devoted to professional education. He has spoken at continuing legal education seminars for the Houston Bar Association Criminal Law & Procedure Section and Taxation Section, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Kuniansky graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He received his law degree from Emory Law. He holds a license to practice law before all Texas state courts.
