T. John Ward is one of the country’s most respected lawyers, with more than 45 years of experience working state and federal courtrooms. Mr. Ward served as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas from September 24, 1999 until his retirement October 1, 2011. During his service on the federal bench, Mr. Ward presided over 150 jury trials and managed a diverse but intellectual property-heavy docket. During his judicial career, he presided over more than 3,000 civil cases through final disposition.

Prior to being appointed to the federal bench, Mr. Ward spent 31 years as an active trial lawyer, trying over 250 cases to jury verdict throughout Texas.

Mr. Ward graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. degree in Chemistry and received his law degree from Baylor University.

In addition to being licensed in Texas, Mr. Ward is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal District, U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.

Mr. Ward earned his first selection to the Texas Super Lawyers list in 2012, the first year he was eligible after retiring from the federal bench.
