    Verdicts/Settlements:

    • In re C.C., No. 19-0694 - This petition for writ of mandamus is currently pending before the Texas Supreme Court and looks to be a landmark case in the state of Texas for protecting parental rights.  Under the due process clause of the United States Constitution and under the United States Supreme Court's opinion in Troxel v. Granville, 530 U.S. 57 (2000), a fit parent should be able to parent free from government interference.  Here, the trial judge awarded the deceased mother's fiance rights and possession over the fit father's objections.  Our petition for writ of mandamus asks the Texas Supreme Court to find the trial judge abused her discretion in giving rights and possession to a non-parent over a fit parent's objections.  The Texas Supreme Court granted our requested stay and requested full briefing in the case on October 7, 2019.  Nine organizations, including the State of Texas, have filed briefs as amicus curiae in support of our position. The Texas Supreme Court granted oral argument, which was held via zoom on April 22, 2020.   http://www.search.txcourts.gov/Case.aspx?cn=19-0694&coa=cossup, 2019
    • In re Clay, No. 02-18-00404-CV We filed this petition for writ of mandamus on behalf of a father related to standing issues.  The child's mother had died.  The maternal grandparents intervened seeking joint managing conservatorship with father or, alternatively, seeking grandparent access.  The mother's fiance, who had lived with mother and the child for less than a year, also intervened seeking joint managing conservatorship with father.  The Fort Worth Court of Appeals granted the petition with respect to the grandparents, finding they lacked standing.  , 2018
