Details

Michael R. Puhl focuses his practice exclusively on family law matters. He represents clients throughout the North Texas area. He assists his clients through the challenges of a failed marriage including such divorce-related legal issues as child and spousal support, child custody and visitation, and complex asset and debt division. He encourages his clients to resolve these matters responsibly through alternate dispute resolution methods including negotiation, collaborative law or mediation. However, when necessary, he provides aggressive courtroom advocacy.

Mr. Puhl also routinely handles post-divorce order modifications, parental relocations, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence issues, grandparents' rights and adoptions. He is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2009, and is also a qualified family law mediator. Mr. Puhl has been licensed as an attorney since 1982. He was admitted to practice before all Texas and Illinois state courts and before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Puhl is AV Preeminent peer-review rated* through Martindale-Hubbell and has a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo.

Mr. Puhl previously accepted a gubernatorial appointment to serve on the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists where he thereafter appointed as the chairman of that board. Mr. Puhl has also served as a member of the board of both the McKinney Economic Development Corporation and the McKinney Community Development Corporation.

Michael Puhl also participates as a member of North Texas Litigation Solutions, which is a group of former judges and practicing attorneys who assist practicing attorneys through mediation and arbitration procedures to resolve their cases. Mediation and other dispute resolution processes offer a unique advantage over taking the risk in court - having control in the outcome of the dispute. Solutions can be creative and specifically designed to meet the facts and circumstances of each situation. The entire process is confidential which permits the parties, their attorneys, and the mediator to explore solutions that are "outside the box" while the content of the creative process is protected from public disclosure.
