Peter James Ganyard

With almost a decade of experience in the field of legal practice, Peter James Ganyard serves at The Shapiro Law Firm, located in Plano, Texas. Focusing primarily on the areas of criminal and family law, he has earned a spot for himself in the legal community of Texas. 

Joining the Collin County District Attorney’s Office as a misdemeanor prosecutor, Mr. Ganyard went on to work as a misdemeanor chief, felony prosecutor and felony chief. Following that, he worked with the Domestic Violence Unit, the Crimes Against Children Unit and the Felony Trial team, and subsequently led the 416th District Court. Experiences garnered over these years have helped him better understand the legal system and serve his clients better. 

Over the years, Mr. Ganyard has represented several clients in over 50 misdemeanor and felony jury trials. His experience handling a wide spectrum of cases, from DWI and assault family violence to drug offenses, sexual assault, capital murder and white collar crime, has helped him assist various clients in addressing their criminal defense concerns. Having served various positions at several legal bodies in Texas, he has been able to cater to the specific requirements of his clients efficiently. 

In handling family law cases, Mr. Ganyard demonstrates compassion toward all his clients by providing a supportive environment where they can freely discuss their concerns. His attentive listening allows him to identify and meticulously address their most pressing issues.

Securing a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Clemson University, Mr. Ganyard went on to graduate with his law degree from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2014.
