Brian Steward

Brian Steward is the founding partner of The Law Office of Brian C. Steward, PLLC, in San Antonio, Texas. Board-certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he dedicates his practice to car accidents, wrongful death claims, trucking collisions and complex business litigation.

A native San Antonian, Mr. Steward began his academic journey at San Antonio Academy (class of 1979) and continued at Deerfield Academy. He earned a history degree from Duke University before returning home to earn his J.D. at St. Mary's School of Law. Today, he remains deeply involved with each alma mater, serving as a former board member of San Antonio Academy, regional chair for Duke University Alumni Admissions Volunteers and executive committee member of the Deerfield Academy Alumni Council.

Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1990, Mr. Steward gained federal court credentials in all four Texas districts by 1992 and in the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit by 1994. Over a 30-year career, he has tried high-stakes cases in Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey and New Mexico. His appellate work includes oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and briefing substantial civil rights matters in the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

An active leader in the bar, Mr. Steward has chaired the San Antonio Bar Association’s Medical-Legal Liaison Committee three times and led the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee District 10. He also serves as a director of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and sits on the board of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. In continuing legal education, he has been a course director for the State Bar of Texas Advanced Personal Injury Seminar and has presented in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He joined the Texas Trial Lawyers Association Continuing Legal Education Committee in 2019, speaking at both midyear meetings (2019 and 2020) and the 2019 end-of-year meeting.

A member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the William S. Sessions American Inn of Court, Mr. Steward also champions civil liberties through roles with the Texas Freedom Network, the Texas Watch, the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the American Association for Justice. His steadfast defense of the Seventh Amendment and Texans’ rights stands at the heart of his practice. He is also peer-review rated Distinguished* through Martindale-Hubbell.
