Dayna L. Jones

A founding partner at Jones & De La Garza in San Antonio, Texas, Dayna L. Jones provides eminent legal representation to residents throughout the surrounding region and beyond in complex criminal law matters, such as DUI/DWIs, sex crimes, drug offenses, murder (as well as capital murder) and manslaughter, assault, expunctions, appeals and writ of habeas corpus, among many others. She has seven clients on the National Registry of Exonerations with many more cases overturned. In just over 18 years, she has made massive strides within her legal community and is regarded as a leadership figure.

Ms. Jones at St. Mary’s School of Law’s master’s of legal studies program where she teaches Wrongful Convictions and Constitutional Criminal Procedure. She also frequently speaks to lawyers & judges at continuing legal education seminars.   

In 2003, Ms. Jones graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies. With a desire to pursue law, she moved to Texas and attended the St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she clerked for a prominent law firm and gained immense exposure to how the local judiciary operates. She was also a member of the External Advocacy Program’s Trial Team and was a writer for the Scholar Law Review. She received her Juris Doctor in 2007 and, in the same year, obtained her license to practice law in Texas. She is also in the Order of Barristers, which is awarded to only a small portion of students for their outstanding advocacy skills.

Within her legal community, Ms. Jones holds close affiliations with myriad legal organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the San Antonio Bar Association. she is currently the vice president of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Asociation. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas.
