Jeremy J. Poet

Jeremy J. Poet is a family law and criminal defense attorney based out of Sherman, Texas. Mr. Poet is the founder of Jeremy J. Poet Law Firm, PLLC, and represents clients in Sherman and throughout Grayson County and the surrounding area.

Mr. Poet has over a decade of legal experience and provides dedicated and committed representation to each client. He handled civil and criminal litigation matters with two private law firms before founding his own firm in 2017.

As a family law attorney, Mr. Poet handles cases involving divorce, adoption, child support, child custody, fathers’ rights, grandparents’ rights, modifications and enforcement, property division, spousal support and more. In his criminal defense practice, he defends clients charged with crimes including assault, domestic violence, drug crimes, DWI, fraud, probation violation, sex crimes and white collar crimes. He aggressively advocates on behalf of his clients, fighting for dismissed or reduced charges.

Committed to staying involved in his legal community, Mr. Poet belongs to the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association. He holds licenses to practice law before all Texas state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Raised in Sherman, Mr. Poet attended undergraduate school at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He earned his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law and was the recipient of a dean’s fellow scholarship. He gained legal experience during law school by clerking for an Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals judge.
