She was a former member of the Grievance Committee District 2A, Panel Chair 2A2 as well as co-chair of the District 2 Nominating Committee of the Texas Bar Foundation. She was also past chair of the American Institute of Appellate Practice. Ms. Race was the past president of the Smith County Bar Association and served on the Board of Disciplinary Appeals.

Honored for her enthusiasm in and dedication to the legal field, Ms. Race has been the recipient of many awards. She has received the Top Women Attorneys in Texas 2020 award as well as the Barbara Culver Clack Award from the Women’s Section of the State Bar of Texas, Award of Excellence from the Smith County Bar Association and the Peter Perlman Service Award from the Litigation Counsel of America.

Ms. Race has achieved significant recognition in the pro bono field. She works for various community organizations such as the Women's Fund of Smith County, the Smith County Bar Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Smith County.
