Barrett Thomas is an Attorney and Mediator with Christian Family Law Solutions, a faith-based, trauma-informed family law mediation service.
Barrett Thomas is also the Principal and Managing Attorney of Lighthouse Legal Services, PLLC. He is a former First Assistant District Attorney and Chief of Police. He honed his skills as an investigator and litigator over 14 years in law enforcement. Through that experience, he developed a knack for finding the truth – even when it has been intentionally concealed. He now uses his investigative prowess to benefit his family and criminal clients, and to ensure his clients have the advantage whether in settlement negotiations or the courtroom.
Mr. Thomas has been named a Rising Texas Star (2017-2019), a Super Lawyer (2021-2025), and has been voted one of the "Best of Waco" in family law for more than five years. He has received both the Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) award and the Bob Black Bar Leaders award from Texas Tech University School of Law. He was voted the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the Abilene Young Lawyers Association in 2014. He has been named an Outstanding Young Alumnus by Hardin-Simmons University in 2019. Finally, he is the former President of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, a former member of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and former President of the Abilene Young Lawyers Association for two terms. Mr. Thomas is an active volunteer for various organizations including the District 8 Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas, the Advocacy Center for Crime Victim’s and Children, and the Hardin-Simmons University Alumni Board of Directors.
Mr. Thomas enjoys watching Dallas Cowboy and Texas Tech Red Raider football, time outdoors, and visiting breweries across the country. He takes pride in being a fifth generation Wacoan and the fact his children are the sixth generation members of Austin Avenue Methodist Church. Mr. Thomas is most satisfied with his role outside the courtroom as a husband to his wife of over fourteen years and father to their four children.
