A 1986 B.A. graduate from Yale University, Mr. Deiss attained his master's degree (1992) in American legal history from The University of Chicago. Later, in 1995, he received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School. That same year, he secured his license to practice law in Utah.

While at law school, Mr. Deiss also contributed to The University of Chicago Legal Forum as a staff member. With over 200 law review papers and several published pieces to his name, his scholarly proficiency and keen legal insight have significantly impacted numerous court verdicts, including a pivotal Supreme Court ruling.

At the onset of his career, Mr. Deiss served as a clerk for the Utah Supreme Court justice. Subsequently, he assumed the role of a pro tempore judge for the 3rd Judicial District of Utah. His zeal for legal education led him to become an adjunct professor at The University of Utah, where he shared his deep-seated knowledge of legal history and the First Amendment. Also, he is a frequent instructor in trial advocacy courses at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Deiss is an active member of the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Society of Trial Consultants, the American Bar Association and the Utah State Bar. His exceptional legal skills have earned him several accolades, including a "Superb" rating on Avvo.
