    As the founding attorney of the Salt Lake City, Utah, law firm of Deiss Law PC, Andrew G. Deiss focuses his practice on business litigation and criminal defense. He has defended companies large and small in cases involving employment issues, commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes and more, and has defended clients in a wide range of criminal matters. He serves the Salt Lake City area.

    A graduate of Yale University, where he was a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship, Mr. Deiss went on to earn a master’s degree in American legal history at the University of Chicago and his law degree at the University of Chicago Law School. His legal scholarship has been cited in more than 200 law review articles and other publications and in numerous court opinions, including one opinion from the Supreme Court of the United States.

    Early in his career, Mr. Deiss served as a clerk for a justice of the Utah Supreme Court. He later served as a pro tempore judge for the 3rd Judicial District of Utah. He has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching legal history and the First Amendment at The University of Utah, and frequently teaches courses on trial advocacy at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

    His knowledge and achievements on behalf of his clients have earned Mr. Deiss recognition from his peers. Among other honors in his career, he earned the rating of AV Preeminent* from the attorney peer review service Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating.

    Mr. Deiss is active in a number of professional and community organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Society of Trial Consultants, the American Bar Association and the Utah State Bar. He has also been active with Utah Lawyers for the Arts, serving as its president from 1997 to 2010.
