Matt Wadsworth

Matt Wadsworth is a partner at the law firm Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins Attorneys in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he also serves as the legislative liaison and manages lobbying activities. His legal practice primarily covers bankruptcy, real estate, family law, divorce, child support and alimony in the Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo regions.

With over 400 hours in family law trials, Mr. Wadsworth has significant legal skills in handling complex cases involving business valuations and custody disputes. He is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) in Utah. Annually, he files around 100 bankruptcy cases and is also a licensed realtor in Utah, reflecting his parallel interest in real estate.

Mr. Wadsworth graduated in the top 10% of his class with a degree in economics from The University of Utah in 2005. He received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2008, finishing in the top third of his class. After being licensed in Utah in 2008, Mr. Wadsworth joined a prominent foreclosure firm, managing numerous foreclosure and eviction cases. This knowledge prepared him for handling mortgage lending litigation at his current firm. He has also engaged in legislative work, notably sponsoring a bill to amend Utah's unlawful detainer statute.

Beyond his legal acumen, Mr. Wadsworth is affiliated with the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Utah State Bar Association. Moreover, he has a “Superb” rating on Avvo and is a noted contributor to several legal publications, such as the Utah Family Law Journal, the Attorney at Law Magazine and the Utah Business Law. His competence in the courtroom has garnered him a spot on the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 list. Furthermore, the American Institute of Legal Counsel has recognized him as one of the Top 10 Attorneys in Utah for both bankruptcy and family law.

Mr. Wadsworth’s previous legal experience spans many areas, encompassing foreclosures, personal injury, real estate, landlord/tenant law, debt collection and consumer law. He's well-versed in key legal statutes like the Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
