A highly regarded civil litigation attorney, Michael F. Skolnick is a shareholder of Kipp and Christian, P.C., located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Representing people and companies throughout the area, his varied practice has included defending attorneys, engineers, accountants, architects, real estate agents and brokers in professional liability administrative and court proceedings. Mr. Skolnick has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, product liability and wrongful death litigation, as well as in contract disputes and other commercial litigation matters. He now provides mediation services, serving as a mediator in cases involving the areas upon which he has concentrated during his forty-year career as an attorney. As an undergraduate, Mr. Skolnick attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. Remaining in Austin, he then pursued his legal studies at The University of Texas School of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1985. After graduating from law school, Mr. Skolnick joined the Office of the Utah Attorney General, where he spent three years as an Assistant Attorney General before joining Kipp and Christian, P.C., in July 1988. He became a shareholder of the firm in 1992. Mr. Skolnick is admitted to practice before all Utah state courts, and has been admitted pro hac vice in Idaho, Wyoming and Massachusetts.
Mr. Skolnick has had articles published in the Utah Bar Journal, including ones covering legal malpractice defense and insurance. He is a member of several legal organizations, including the American and Salt Lake County Bar Associations, American Inns of Court and Litigation Counsel of America. He is frequently asked to deliver presentations to professional groups on topics related to his practice areas. He was recently selected by the Utah Supreme Court to serve on the court's Professionalism and Civility Counseling Board.
