Sarah Elizabeth Spencer Willson is a dedicated commercial litigator and appellate advocate, licensed in Utah and Colorado. She holds admission rights before the U.S. Supreme Court and various federal circuit courts of appeal. With two decades of experience, she focuses on complex legal disputes, including breach of contract, fiduciary duties, corporate governance, fraud, trusts, real property disputes, business torts, product liability, and professional liability. Sarah has secured significant victories, such as major summary judgments and successful appeals.
As an experienced appellate counsel, Sarah has led dozens of appeals involving interlocutory orders, preliminary injunctions, final judgments, and admiralty/maritime law. She also handles appeals of trial verdicts and is adept at managing large evidentiary data sets, which enhances her appellate advocacy.
Sarah's interest in law began in childhood when she won an essay contest in 6th grade. She started college at 13 and law school at 18, earning her B.A. by 16 and her J.D. by 21, becoming the youngest graduate of her programs.
Sarah currently serves as the President, Co-Founder, and Managing Attorney at SpencerWillson, PLLC in Salt Lake City, Utah. Previously, she was the Vice-President, Shareholder, Director, and Attorney at Christensen & Jensen, P.C. She also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Utah State Courts and the Colorado Judicial Branch, and worked as an Attorney at Hall & Evans, PLLC in Denver.
Sarah has been recognized with several awards and honors. She is the 2023-2024 chair of the Appellate Advocacy Committee of DRI and an executive committee member of the Utah State Bar Appellate Practice Section. She has also been a member of the Amicus Committee of the DRI Center for Law and Public Policy. She has an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale, has been listed in Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation, and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer and Utah Legal Elite in Civil Litigation Defense.
Sarah earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law at age 21. During her time there, she served as a staff editor for the University of Denver International Law Journal, was a member of the ABA traveling trial team, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Advanced Civil Procedure. She also graduated as the youngest B.A. graduate from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree in Psychology at age 16, earning honors such as membership in the Psi Chi, Psychology National Honor Society.
Sarah is a Colorado native who moved to Utah in 2005. She lives north of Salt Lake City with her husband and three children. She enjoys skiing, staying current with news, wind tunnel flying, skydiving, and cooking.

- May 15, 2009: After a five-day federal court jury trial, Ms. Spencer obtained a defense verdict for a construction and mining company accused of negligence in a towing incident involving a semi truck and front-end loader.
