Walter M. Mason

Licensed to practice in Utah since 2018, attorney Walter M. Mason uses his skills and experience to help the victims of personal injury obtain the compensation and justice they deserve for the loss incurred. Serving as an attorney with the law firm of Dewsnup King Olsen Worel Havas, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, his practice encompasses areas of wrongful death, civil rights, medical malpractice, product liability and catastrophic injury cases.

In his previous firm, he litigated civil lawsuits in state and federal courts against defendants, including the city, country, state and federal. He played a crucial role in successfully litigating a lawsuit for a woman who was deprived of medical care in the Salt Lake County Jail, which resulted in her death. He was also instrumental in challenging Utah’s medical cannabis law that unreasonably restricted access to specific patients, the unconstitutional surveillance by the National Security Agency and obtaining justice for the victim of child sexual assault against the abusers.

At The University of Utah, Mr. Mason obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2008 before joining the S.J. Quinney College of Law – The University of Utah for his J.D., where he graduated fourth in his class and was a note and comment editor for the Utah Law Review. Parallelly, he completed his master’s in business administration from the university’s David Eccles School of Business in 2018. 

Completing his education with flying colors, Mr. Mason also interned with the Honorable Justice John A. Pearce at the Utah Supreme Court during this tenure. He prepared bench memoranda, proofread the documents and gained a deeper understanding of the justice system in Utah. He worked for two other law firms earning experience working with a broad spectrum of cases before joining Dewsnup King Olsen Worel Havas.
