Lonnie C. Rich

Lonnie C. Rich has a diverse practice in his capacity as a partner at Family First Law Group, PLLC. He represents people and businesses throughout northern Virginia from the firm’s offices in Alexandria, and he has been admitted to practice in Virginia since 1981. Mr. Rich is additionally admitted to practice in the District of Columbia as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Virginia and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 4th and Federal Circuits.

A significant portion of Mr. Rich’s practice is devoted to estate planning and administration. Tailoring each plan to his clients’ individual goals and circumstances, he prepares and reviews living and irrevocable trusts, wills, advance medical directives, and financial and health care powers of attorney. Mr. Rich has also guided executors, trustees, court-appointed administrators, and heirs and beneficiaries through what can often be a lengthy and confusing process of the administration of a decedent’s estate.

Mr. Rich has a business-focused practice as well, and many of his clients are entrepreneurs who are starting a new venture. At the outset, he advises them on the most appropriate form of legal entity that the business should operate under, and once it has been formed and continues to grow, he works with these companies on regulatory compliance, contract review and preparation, financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.

Other practice areas that Mr. Rich has extensive experience in include divorce and other family law matters as well as real estate transactions. In recognition of the high quality of his work in all these endeavors, he is AV Preeminent* peer-review rated through Martindale-Hubbell. After graduating from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Mr. Rich spent several years as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Agriculture before entering private practice.
