Andy Baxter has been practicing as a trial attorney in State and Federal Courts in Washington, D.C. and Virginia for 15 years. He is a Trial Attorney specializing in Business Torts, representing businesses and government contractors in disputes related to their transactions, ownership, and employment. Andy has successfully litigated derivative suits and “business divorce” cases, as well as business tort cases involving Tortious Interference with Contract, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Trade Secrets Act, Business Conspiracy, and Negligence. Additionally, he represents businesses in government contracts, contract and sub-contract disputes, joint ventures, employment discrimination claims, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, and copyrights. Most recently, Andy has become a leading advocate in the area of Defamation Law, 1st Amendment Law, and anti-SLAPP actions.

Currently, I am lead counsel before the Virginia Court of Appeals in a notable piece of 1st Amendment Litigation concerning Retaliatory Defamation Suits and Virginia’s Anti-SLAPP statute. I previously served as Lead Counsel on the team that obtained a $3.8 Million Jury Verdict in Heard Construction Inc. v. Waterfront Marine Construction Inc. in the Chesapeake Circuit Court (Case No. CL14-2757) – the largest Virginia commercial jury verdict in 2017.
