Mr. Wexell was subsequently admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 1980.

The firm of Wexell Milman began as a solo practice started by Mr. Wexell in 1981. At that time, Mr. Wexell also focused on family law matters, representing clients in and around Fairfax County. His firm has represented clients not only in Northern Virginia trial courts, but also on appeal to the Court of Appeals of Virginia as well as the Supreme Court of Virginia, the state's highest court.
