J. Andrew Baxter is a senior attorney at General Counsel, P.C. A seasoned litigator as well as a trusted provider of legal advice and counsel, he represents clients throughout parts of Virginia as well as in the District of Columbia from the firm’s office in McLean, Virginia. Mr. Baxter has been admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2009.
Mr. Baxter has represented both defendants and plaintiffs in a variety of matters, both in court and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. His cases have included bad faith and other types of insurance coverage issues, intellectual property, debt collections, employment law defense, contract breaches, and personal injury and wrongful death claims. Mr. Baxter’s clients have included domestic and international companies, entrepreneurs, governmental agencies and management. He was the lead attorney for the plaintiff in a case involving a breach of contract that ultimately ended in his client’s receipt of millions of dollars in damages, which was reported to be the second-largest jury award obtained in 2017. In addition to his dispute resolution experience, Mr. Baxter provides advice and counsel to many of his clients in the areas of risk management and litigation avoidance.Â
As an undergraduate, Mr. Baxter majored in music composition and performance at Valdosta State University in Georgia, and he received a bachelor’s degree in 2004. He subsequently went on to pursue his legal education at Florida Coastal School of Law, and while he was there, he studied international law and other subjects at the University of Haifa, Faculty of Law, in Israel. After being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2009, Mr. Baxter had his own practice before joining General Counsel, P.C., in 2015
