Attorney Profile

Attorney C. James Williams III is a principal with the Burnett & Williams, P.C., law firm, which has seven office locations across Virginia. Serving the rights and entitlements of innocent accident victims and their families throughout the state, Mr. Williams devotes his practice exclusively to personal injury law and helping his plaintiff clients recover the full amount of compensation for the injuries and losses they suffered as the result of someone else's negligence or wrongdoing.

Certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and possessing more than 31 years of legal experience, Mr. Williams has successfully tried over 100 cases, and he has handled numerous appeals to help his clients challenge a previous ruling regarding their cases to help them achieve the justice they deserve. Early in his career, Mr. Williams served as an insurance defense attorney, and he worked for years as a litigation attorney for Progressive Insurance Company.

This experience provided him with invaluable insight into the tactics insurance companies use to reduce or deny claims, which make Mr. Williams more effective when it comes to devising solutions and strategies designed to help his clients achieve the favorable outcomes they seek. Through his efforts, he has recovered millions of dollars in settlements and awards for his plaintiff clients, earning his membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

A 1982 graduate of George Mason University, Mr. Williams returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor summa cum laude from Antonin Scalia Law School, previously George Mason University School of Law in 1987. He served as law clerk for the Hon. Glen M. Williams of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. He then focused on insurance defense until 1999 when he shifted his focus to representing plaintiff injury clients.

During his career, he has written extensively and conducted numerous lectures and seminars across his region on a variety of legal topics. He has also won numerous awards and honors for his professionalism and service, including a Top 100 Trial Lawyers designation from The National Trial Lawyers.

Dedicated to his local community as well, Mr. Williams established The Beth Williams Field of Dreams Foundation in 2006 in honor of his late wife who passed away due to cancer. The foundation focuses on providing quality sports facilities for the children and residents of his local Midlothian community.
