Morring Law, PLLC
Morring Law, PLLC, in Norfolk, Virginia, is devoted exclusively to representing injured and disabled individuals throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Our practice centers on helping workers, longshore employees and individuals with disabling conditions secure the financial support they need when their ability to earn a living is interrupted.
We focus our efforts on workers’ compensation matters, including Longshore and Defense Base Act claims, Virginia and North Carolina state workers’ compensation, as well as Social Security Disability cases. By concentrating solely on these areas, we bring depth of experience and a detailed understanding of the systems that govern benefit approvals, disputes and appeals. We guide clients through complex procedures, ensuring deadlines are met, paperwork is accurate and rights are protected at every stage.
Our firm was built on a deeply personal understanding of how workplace injuries affect families. Growing up in a household supported by a hardworking laborer who endured physical strain without relief shaped our commitment to advocating for those who dedicate their lives to demanding jobs. That perspective drives our mission: to empower clients with knowledge and pursue the full measure of support available under the law.
We represent shipyard employees, port workers, contractors abroad and employees injured on the job, as well as individuals whose medical conditions prevent continued employment. Many of our clients come to us after facing denials or discouraging setbacks. We approach each case with careful preparation, persistence and determination.
At Morring Law, PLLC, we emphasize communication and trust. Clients receive clear explanations, honest assessments and steady guidance from start to finish. We understand that financial uncertainty adds stress to an already difficult time, and we work to reduce that burden through reliable advocacy.
Our goal is simple: to stand beside working families and help them obtain the benefits they have earned through their labor and sacrifice.
The Morring Law Difference
What truly distinguishes Morring Law is not any single practice area—it is the integration of all of them under one results-driven team. When a shipyard worker is injured on the job, the question of whether their claim falls under the LHWCA or Virginia workers’ compensation (or both) is often contested. When a federal contractor returns from overseas with a disabling injury, the path from DBA benefits to Social Security disability must be navigated with precision. Morring Law handles these intersections daily, giving clients confidence that no matter how their case evolves, their attorney has the experience to fight for the best possible outcome. Alongside Charlene, Associate Attorney Ashlee Ferebee—a 2025 Virginia Rising Stars and Top Lawyers honoree—strengthens the firm’s capacity to deliver responsive, high-caliber representation. Together, they bring a depth of experience that speaks for itself in the results they achieve for their clients.
Commitment to Community
Charlene’s commitment extends well beyond the courtroom. A Norfolk native and Old Dominion University graduate, she founded the Morring Community Foundation to address food insecurity in Southeastern Virginia. The Foundation’s inaugural “Creepy for a Cause” fundraiser raised over $50,000 for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, and the Foundation’s annual Berkley Grocery Gift Card Giveaway—now in its fifth year—has been featured on local television. Charlene serves on boards including ForKids, the ODU Women Initiative Network, the Better Business Bureau of Greater Hampton Roads, and the Hampton Roads Chamber, and is a Tocqueville Society member for United Way,
