    Leonard C. Heath Jr. is a partner at Newport News-based Heath, Overbey, Verser & Old PLC. An experienced and well-regarded civil trial lawyer, he provides representation to clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Heath attended the Raymond A. Mason School of Business, part of the College of William & Mary, and in 1982, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in business management. He then remained on campus and enrolled at its Marshall-Wythe School of Law, and he served as an editor on the William & Mary Law Review before obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1986.

    Mr. Heath has handled a wide range of civil trials and appeals during his distinguished career. His cases have included personal injury and wrongful death litigation, in which he has represented clients who have been harmed due to the negligence of other parties in truck, motorcycle and other types of motor vehicle accidents. Mr. Heath’s experience additionally encompasses real estate matters, including title defects, easements, adverse possession and ownership disputes. He has also worked on breach of contract actions, shareholder and partner disputes, trade secret misappropriation, fraud claims, and will contests as well as breaches of executors’ and trustees’ fiduciary duties.

    Held in high regard by his fellow attorneys, Mr. Heath has received several honors, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 peer review rating through Avvo. He has also been named to Virginia Business magazine’s annual “Legal Elite” list. A past president of the Virginia State Bar and a fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation, Mr. Heath is admitted to practice in Virginia as well as before several federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
