Dale W. Pittman

Petersburg, Virginia attorney Dale W. Pittman maintains a statewide consumer protection litigation practice with a primary focus on debt collection harassment and abuse cases under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other consumer financial services industry misconduct. Dale is currently involved in numerous challenges to improper employment background check practices that result in false background information interfering with the ability to get or to maintain a job.  

Dale's litigation of consumer protection cases has resulted in many published opinions furthering the rights of victims of consumer credit overreaching and abuse. Wideraching class actions settlements in his cases have protected the rights of consumers throughout Virginia and across America. In recognition of his achievements and dedication to serving the underprivileged, Dale has received several honors, including the 2007 Consumer Attorney of the Year Award from the National Association of Consumer Advocates, a "Leader in the Law 2010" award from Virginia Lawyers Weekly and the 2010 John Kent Shumate Jr. Advocate of the Year Award from the Virginia Poverty Law Center. The Virginia Trial Lawyers Association will recognize Dale as only the fifth recipient of its Oliver White Hill Courageous Advocate Award at the VTLA's 2014 annual convention next March, an award periodically presented to an advocate who has demonstrated courage and commitment to the ideals of justice in representing an individual or cause at considerable personal risk. Dale is a frequently featured speaker on consumer law issues for legal continuing legal education events, and has contributed to numerous National Consumer Law Center publications.
