Carla D. Brown

As a partner with Charlson Bredehoft Cohen & Brown, P.C., Carla D. Brown represents clients in a variety of employment litigation matters, including discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation and whistleblower disputes. She also handles cases related to contract negotiation, severance agreements, non-compete actions and employee-employer agreements. Ms. Brown has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, and accepts clients throughout Virginia.

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1996, Ms. Brown earned her Juris Doctor in 1999 from the George Mason University School of Law. She is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

In addition to serving as a barrister of The George Mason American Inn of Court, Ms. Brown is an active member of numerous bars and associations, including the Fairfax Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association and the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association. Over the years, she has won several multimillion-dollar verdicts and judgments on behalf of clients.

Ms. Brown's commitment to excellent legal standards has earned her the respect of her peers. She was named a Top 40 under 40 and a Top 100 in civil plaintiff law by The National Trial Lawyers in 2013, demonstrating her capacity as one of the country's pre-eminent attorneys in her field. In 2014, Ms. Brown was recognized by the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association for her dedication to justice, equality and civil rights, as Lawyer of the Year.
