Katherine Smith

Katherine Smith, known professionally as Katherine "Kitty" D. Smith, is a junior partner with Grenadier, Duffett, Levi, Winkler & Rubin, P.C., which has offices in Reston and Alexandria, Virginia. She is an emerging leader in her field, serving clients throughout Fairfax and Arlington counties and the surrounding areas.

During her more than 15-year legal career, Ms. Smith has helped guide and support numerous families through the complex and emotionally charged divorce process by providing compassionate yet aggressive counsel for their needs involving child custody, child and spousal support, equitable distribution of property, post-divorce enforcement and modification issues, and other related matters.

Well-versed in all aspects of family law, Ms. Smith has extensive experience handling cases involving international divorce and custody issues, settlement agreements, and pre- and postnuptial marriage agreements. She also has notable experience handling matters involving business valuations, retirement and pension divisions, and other complex property division matters for high net worth clients.

A 2007 cum laude graduate of Georgetown University, Ms. Smith attended the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, where she obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude in 2010 with a Certificate of Concentration in family law. She received her license from the Virginia State Bar in 2010 and served as a legal clerk with the 17th Judicial Circuit for a year before entering private practice.

A consummate professional dedicated to her practice, Ms. Smith maintains active involvement with the Fairfax Bar Association Family Law Section, the Virginia State Bar, the Loudoun County Bar Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
