Yama Shansab

Yama Shansab, a partner at Walton & Adams, P.C., in Reston, Virginia, has been practicing law for more than 25 years. His practice areas encompass business and corporate law, employment law, automotive law, trusts and estate, and litigation and appeals. He provides legal counsel in business, contracts, corporate governance, fiduciary responsibilities, employment issues and real estate. Additionally, his services extend to estate planning and business succession planning.

Raised in Fairfax County, Virginia, Yama graduated magna cum laude from William & Mary and was inducted into the Alpha of Phi Beta Kappa. A recipient of an alumni scholarship and fellowship, Yama attended the William & Mary School of Law. He is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and District of Columbia Bar. 

Yama is highly regarded in his field, holding an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. From 2011 to 2023, he has been recognized as part of the “Virginia Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine. He is also a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honor bestowed upon a select number of attorneys based on litigation abilities and unwavering commitment to ethical standards.

In addition to his legal practice, Yama has contributed to the legal community. He was privileged to serve on the faculty of the Virginia State Bar’s Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course, working alongside some of the most esteemed judges and attorneys in Virginia.

Yama has also been an active member of the Professionalism Course Committee. His commitment to the field extends to his involvement with The Virginia Bar Association’s Wills, Trusts & Estates Legislative Committee, and has been a regular speaker for Virginia CLE programs. He has also published articles in the Investment Lawyer and Fairfax Bar Association Journal.
