After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, Mr. Sampson returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993. The Virginia State Bar admitted him to practice that same year, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

A recognized leader in his practice areas, Mr. Sampson has written extensively on a number of legal topics related to family and criminal law. He has also conducted lectures and continuing legal education seminars before numerous professional legal organizations throughout the state and the country on topics involving domestic violence, asset protection, appeals, marriage agreements and many other subjects.

He also maintains an active presence in his legal community, as evidenced by his memberships with several local, state and national bar associations, and he is the past president of the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar Association.
