John K. Karanian is Executive Vice-President at Richmond, Virginia-based Barnes & Diehl, P.C. He also has a background in defending clients against misdemeanor and felony charges.

Mr. Karanian majored in psychology at Georgetown University and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1992. He then enrolled at the University of Hartford and eventually earned his Doctor of Psychology in 1997. Mr. Karanian spent the following three years in the clinical psychology field, including a one-year stint with the Central Intelligence Agency. He then decided to pursue his legal education at the University of Richmond School of Law, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2004.

Admitted to practice in Virginia, Mr. Karanian has been with Barnes & Diehl, P.C., since graduation, and he became a shareholder in 2013. He has been asked to deliver presentations on various family law topics to groups of fellow professionals, with subjects, including child custody evaluations, sexual abuse in family law cases and selecting a qualified child custody expert.
