When Les Brock began his legal career, he made a deliberate choice to work for a defense firm. This decision would indeed shape his future, but not in the way he originally expected.
Like many, Les initially believed that there was too much litigation, especially in the realm of tort law, and he wanted to help curb what he saw as frivolous claims. By joining a defense firm, he felt he was taking the high road, while also gaining valuable trial experience early on by defending corporations that faced frequent lawsuits. This part of his plan worked—Les found himself representing multinational insurers and corporate clients in front of juries in both state and federal courts across Virginia, even as a young lawyer.
However, after years of defending large corporations, Les had a realization: the issue wasn’t too much tort litigation, but rather, too many torts being committed. While many companies operate with integrity, there are others that view harming individuals or damaging other businesses as just another cost of doing business. "When you represent large corporations, especially insurance companies, they expect you to handle every case—good or bad. I became tired of defending faceless corporations that prioritized saving money over doing what was right," he explains.
After more than a decade of trial experience, Les decided it was time to start his own firm. His focus shifted toward helping individuals and businesses in his community who had been wronged or injured by others. Now, his practice centers on holding people and companies accountable in personal injury, tort litigation, and commercial disputes. "Having a community-based practice is incredibly important to me," he says. "I love helping local people and businesses navigate significant legal challenges."
Les earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. After law school, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable A. Christian Compton, Senior Justice on the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)
- Les Brock recovered $450,000 for a HVAC subcontractor in a payment dispute with a general contractor over work performed at three large commercial projects in the Richmond area. The general contractor failed to pay the subcontractor for the work, despite the fact that the general contractor had been paid by the project owner. The general contract argued that it was entitled to withhold payment because the HVAC subcontractor did not properly document its work or submit its payment claims in the proper format, and the general contractor also claimed the subcontractor was responsible for water damage caused to other portions of the project. The subcontractor filed a lawsuit in the City of Richmond Circuit Court alleging claims for breach of contract, construction fraud, and quantum meruit. The parties mediated the case and the general contractor agreed to pay $450,000 to settle the case., 2022
- Les Brock obtained a $900,000 verdict in the Prince William County Circuit Court after a four-day jury trial. The plaintiff, a 47-year-old auto mechanic, was rear ended while stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn and sustained an acute herniation in his lumbar spine that required a surgical fusion at L5-S1. The plaintiff had a history of back problems, including a prior herniated disc at the same vertebral level and a prior compression fracture at another level, and he treated for periodic back pain before the accident. The defense experts claimed the plaintiff did not suffer a herniated disc in the accident, but rather he suffered from pre-existing and chronic osteophyte complex which predated the accident. The insurance company for the defendant denied the claim and initially refused to pay anything to compensate the plaintiff. However, one week before trial, the insurance company offered $250,000 to settle the case. The offer was declined and the case was tried to a jury in the Prince William County Circuit Court. Over the course of four days, numerous witnesses and doctors testified on both sides of the case, and the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff for $900,000 to compensate him for his injuries, his medical treatment, and his lost wages., 2022
