Nupur Bal

Nupur Bal, a partner at Bowen Ten Long & Bal, PC, focuses exclusively on family law matters, such as high net worth divorce, child and spousal support, asset distribution, and pre- and postnuptial agreements. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Supreme Court of the United States. She concentrates her practice in the Richmond metropolitan area in Virginia.

As a seasoned litigator, Ms. Bal has successfully managed numerous complex trials, settlement conferences and mediations. She places significant emphasis on preserving the dignity and privacy of her clients, working closely with them to achieve their goals. Her commitment to her clients ensures effective representation through courtroom advocacy or vigorous mediation support.

Apart from her legal achievements, Ms. Bal actively engages in the Metro Richmond Family Bar Association, the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association, The Virginia Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the American Inn of Court. Additionally, at the request of the Supreme Court of Virginia, she contributed to the Virginia Access to Justice Commission Pro Bono Coordinating Consortium. She has recently assumed a position on the board of directors at YWCA Richmond.

Ms. Bal holds a distinguished record within the legal community, having acted as the past chair of The Virginia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and as a member of the board of governors. She is a recipient of the Sandra P. Thompson Award for long-term service from the VBA and has consistently been recognized in Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite. Richmond Magazine has also named her a Virginia "Super Lawyer." Moreover, she maintains an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.

In 2015, Ms. Bal was honored as one of the "Influential Women of the Year" by Virginia Lawyers Weekly and received the Richmond Times Dispatch Readers’ Choice Award. She was also recognized in the Top 40 under 40 by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Furthermore, in 2017, she earned a place in Style Weekly’s Top 40 under 40 and gained membership in the University of Richmond’s Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society. In 2018, she was named one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s Leaders in the Law and has consistently been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America since 2020.

Ms. Bal is a sought-after speaker, participating in forums at the University of Richmond School of Law and The Virginia Bar Association meetings, discussing pertinent topics related to relocation cases and the international service of process within the framework of the Hague Service Convention. Before law school, Ms. Bal earned her B.A. in psychology at Emory University in 2002. In 2005, she received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law.
