A leader in her field, she as served on the adjunct legal faculty at Regent University’s Graduate School of Communications, where she has facilitated classes on professional and office management, media law and ethics, and foundations of law. She has also taught courses on wills, trusts and probate for the school's professional and continuing education Paralegal Studies Program.

Ms. Nicolaison is an active member of The Virginia Bar Association, and she serves on the Funding Review Committee of the United Way of South Hampton Roads. She also routinely volunteers her legal services to those less fortunate in her community.
