Allyson Kitchel is the founding attorney of Kitchel Injury Law in Washington, D.C., where she has spent the past 20 years fiercely advocating for people harmed by negligence. Since opening her practice in 2004, she has guided clients through life-changing injuries, whether from commercial truck collisions, rideshare crashes or medical malpractice, combining courtroom prowess with genuine compassion to ensure every voice is heard and every case is pursued to its fullest.

Early in her career, Ms. Kitchel served as a law clerk to a trial judge in the District of Columbia, gaining invaluable insight into how judges assess evidence, shape legal arguments and issue critical rulings. Armed with this insider perspective, she now anticipates defense strategies and crafts airtight cases on behalf of her clients. Her decision to focus exclusively on plaintiffs was cemented by a personal ordeal: when her spouse was seriously injured in a bicycle accident, she experienced firsthand the difference an empathetic, tenacious advocate can make.

Before founding her firm, Ms. Kitchel defended doctors and drivers, acquiring an intimate understanding of how insurers and corporations evaluate, and oftentimes undervalue, injury claims. She leverages that experience to advise clients on the full spectrum of recoverable damages from medical bills and lost wages to future care needs, ensuring insurance companies do not profit at her clients’ expense. Her dedication has resulted in substantial verdicts and settlements throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, and she holds an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.

Ms. Kitchel earned her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law (2004) and her B.A. from Angelo State University (1999). She is licensed to practice in Virginia (2005), Washington, D.C. (2006) and Maryland (2013), and is active with the District of Columbia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Women’s Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.

Outside the courtroom, Ms. Kitchel serves on the Trustee’s Committee at Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, reflecting her deep commitment to service both professionally and in her community.
