The law protects persons age 18 or under who are participating in any orgnaized athletic activity in the District of Columbia by requiring their removal from practice or play if suspected of having a concussion. They can only be permitted to return to participation in the athletic activity after obtaining written clearance from a licensed healthcare provder. The Act also has an educational requirement. - Appointed a Commissioner of the Ad Hoc Police Pracitces Review Commision of Fairfax County, Virginia, and also served on its Use of Force sub-committee. The purpose of the Commission was to engage the community in a process to recommend changes that the Commission felt would help Farifax County to achieve its goal of maintaining a safe community, ensuring a culture of public trust and making sure the County policies provided for the fair and timely resoluton of police-involved incidents.
