Matthew J. Focht

Matthew J. Focht is a partner at Pressler Senftle & Wilhite, P.C., in Washington, D.C., where he concentrates his practice on personal injury litigation. He handles the full spectrum of plaintiff-side matters – including automobile collisions, premises liability and product liability claims – and is known for delivering precise, reliable case evaluations that empower his clients to choose the course of action best aligned with their objectives.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Focht spent the bulk of his practice defending medical malpractice claims at a Rockville, Maryland, law firm. That experience, combined with his extensive work representing plaintiffs, gives him a distinctive vantage point – an ability to assess evidence, predict case dynamics, and forecast both the strength and likely settlement value of a matter with notable accuracy.

Mr. Focht earned a B.S. in political science from Loyola University Maryland and received his J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2001. He was licensed in Washington, D.C., in 2003 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, as well as in the state and federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

An active member of the legal community, Mr. Focht belongs to the Maryland Association for Justice, the Prince George’s County Bar Association and the Bar Association of Montgomery County. He has also contributed to the Maryland Automobile Accident Deskbook (3rd ed.), editing Chapter 9, “Accidents Involving Pedestrians and Animals” and authoring Chapter 19, “Social Media Considerations in Automobile Accident Litigation.”
