Sally A. Buckman is the managing member at Washington, D.C.-located Lerman Senter, where she focuses her practice primarily on regulatory and business matters for her media industry clients located throughout the United States. Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia since 1982, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Ms. Buckman counts among her television and radio broadcast companies of all sizes, media trade associations, lenders and equity investors, on-air personalities, and radio networks, among others. She has handled purchases and sales, syndication agreements, sports rights agreements, retransmission agreements and broadcast tower leases. She advises her clients on all aspects of compliance with FCC and FTC regulations, including political broadcast rules, EEO rules, licensing, ownership, and license assignments and transfers of control, and requirements applicable to on-air and digital advertising. Ms. Buckman's successful track record in her professional endeavors has earned her the high regard of her fellow attorneys, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, she has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and she is ranked by Chambers for her work in communications law.
Ms. Buckman attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts as an undergraduate, and her interest in the media industry stems in part from her experience there serving as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in economics with honors in 1979, she went on to pursue her legal education at the New York University School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Buckman was the articles editor of the New York University Annual Survey of American Law before being awarded her Juris Doctor in 1982. She has been with her current firm since 1987.
