Stephen A. Becker

Based in the vibrant city of Washington, D.C., attorney Stephen A. Becker plays a pivotal role as a director at NovoTech Patent Firm. Before transitioning to law, Mr. Becker honed his engineering skills as a circuit designer at a major U.S. company. For over 46 years, he has been a steadfast advocate for both American and Asian firms in safeguarding their intellectual property in the United States. His academic journey includes a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He later achieved his Juris Doctorate with honors from The George Washington University Law School.

Since 1975, Mr. Becker has held his license in Maryland, expanding his jurisdiction to Washington, D.C., in 1979, and gaining admission to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A prolific author, he has shared his insights on intellectual property through numerous publications, including the annually updated Patent Applications Handbook and contributions to Patents Throughout the World.

Mr. Becker’s skill is further recognized through lectures for esteemed organizations such as the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property – Japan, the Korean Patent Attorneys Association and the Patent Committee of the District of Columbia Bar’s Intellectual Property Law Section. His remarkable achievements have propelled him to the forefront, earning accolades such as the Best Patent Prosecutor by Chambers USA and securing spots on The Legal 500 and The Best Lawyers in America lists.
