Loretta S. Story focuses her practice exclusively on family law cases as the founder of Story Law. Her firm is based in Bellevue, Washington, and she represents clients throughout King County and other parts of the greater Seattle metropolitan area. In 1992, Ms. Story became licensed to practice before all Washington state courts by the Washington State Bar Association, and she subsequently became admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
While Ms. Story has significant experience in litigating family law issues, she has an extensive background in mediation and collaborative law as well, and many of her clients are able to avoid a bitter and protracted courtroom battle through her use of those methods of alternative dispute resolution. She assists those who are facing the end of their marriages in reaching an accord outside of court when possible on such divorce-related legal issues as child and spousal support, the division of complex marital assets and financial obligations, and child custody and visitation. Of course, some family law issues require court intervention, such as paternity disputes and establishment, modifications to or the enforcement of existing support and parenting court orders, and the obtaining of protection orders for victims of domestic violence.
The manner in which Ms. Story handles what are often emotional matters has earned her a great deal of respect from her colleagues, including an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 “Superb” peer-review rating through Avvo. A graduate of Portland State University, her professional affiliations have included the Collaborative Professionals of Washington and the King County Bar Association Board of Trustees.
*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
