Ronnie S. Spiegel

Ronnie S. Spiegel has over 25 years of experience litigating and managing all phases of complex antitrust litigation from filing through trial, with a special focus on Sherman Act Section 1 litigation. She is also a go-to person in the industry regarding ESI issues and the use of foreign-language evidence. Her approach to complex case litigation is both substantive and pragmatic. She has a deep understanding of the legal issues and facts involved in her cases, but also strives to set up an efficient framework at the outset of each case so that the case can run smoothly and achieve the best possible result for her clients. Over the years, she has built key relationships with other leaders in the antitrust bar, which allows for smooth collaboration and effective leadership in cases.

Since joining the firm in 2021, Ronnie has been leading and managing several of its most notable cases, playing key roles as part of lead counsel teams. In Varsity All Star and Scholastic Cheer Market Price-Fixing Litigation, she successfully led the firm’s discovery, deposition, briefing, and summary judgment efforts; managed its large in-house and external teams; and advised and planned out all aspects of the case, including expert depositions and reports, trial preparation, and negotiation of an $82.5 million settlement.

Ronnie is currently a key member of the leadership team in Altria-Juul  E-Cigarette Antitrust Litigation, leading the case through class certification and Daubert briefing and organizing over seven million documents to cull evidence for summary judgment and pre-trial designations. She is also a named member of the Plaintiff Steering Committee in Insulin Medication Price-Fixing Litigation for the Self-Funded Payer Track, as well as serving as a named member of the Plaintiff Steering Committee in Change Healthcare Cybersecurity Negligence Litigation.

Ronnie came to the firm after 16 years at one of the leading class action firms in the country, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, where she was a partner since 2013. While there, she focused on representing direct purchasers and end-consumers, and played key roles in some of the largest price-fixing, monopolization, and complex litigation cases in the country.

While at Hagens Berman, Ronnie was part of the lead counsel team and led the large discovery efforts in the Apple and Google antitrust cases. She was part of the lead counsel team in the McKesson securities shareholder derivative suit that obtained a $175 million recovery for plaintiff shareholders. In Automotive Parts, she led a massive third-party discovery effort, serving and negotiating hundreds of subpoenas on auto makers, and collaborating with both plaintiffs and defendants in a coordinated effort that spanned three years. Earlier in her career, she was part of the lead counsel team in DRAM, which secured a $300 million recovery on behalf of direct purchaser class members. She was also a key member of the leadership teams (and part of the trial preparation team) in SRAM, Cathode Ray Tube, and LCD, each with resolutions larger than $100 million. 

Ronnie also previously worked as an associate at the Philadelphia-based class action firm of Spector, Roseman & Kodroff, where she helped develop the firm’s antitrust practice and managed its North Carolina office. While there, she played a significant role in several landmark cases, including: In re Brand Name Prescription Drugs Antitrust Litigation (took over 30 depositions, briefed key summary judgment motions, member of the trial team), In re Vitamins Antitrust Litigation (discovery leader), In re NASDAQ Market-Makers Antitrust Litigation, In re High Fructose Corn Syrup Antitrust Litigation, In re Commercial Tissue Paper Antitrust Litigation, In re Linerboard Antitrust Litigation, and In re Flat Glass Antitrust Litigation. 

Ronnie is a member of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Section. As a prior member of The Sedona Conference, Working Group 1, she was a member of the drafting team for its revised Rule 45 Commentary (published October 2020). She is an alumni of Ladder Down, a networking, mentoring, and executive training program for women leaders in the Seattle legal community. She is also a former Board Member of the MAMAS organization, a resource and networking organization in Seattle for those trying to balance motherhood and a legal career. She enjoys mentoring newer attorneys and spending time with her three children.
