Amy P. Maloney

Focusing her practice on employment discrimination, retaliation and other workplace law, Amy P. Maloney is a partner at Maloney O’Laughlin, PLLC. Based in Seattle, Washington, she provides dedicated representation to clients throughout the metropolitan area and across the state. She is admitted to practice in Washington and Missouri.

Ms. Maloney has over twenty years of experience in employment law. She represents workers who have been the victims sexual harassment and assault, pregnancy discrimination, disability discrimination, whistle-blowing retaliation, and other forms of prohibited retaliation and discrimination. Ms. Maloney's experience encompasses claims of violations of several federal laws, including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Washington Law Against Discrimination, and other similar state laws. Ms. Maloney has also represented students who have suffered sexual harassment or assault at school or in college. Her successful outcomes and dedication in all of these matters, as well as her high degree of ethics, have earned her a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through AVVO, inclusion in The National Advocates Top 100, National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers and Top 25 Women Civil Trial Lawyers, and Appellate Advocate of the Year 2013, among other awards. 

Ms. Maloney attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she was the lead literary editor on the UMKC Law Review and graduated with distinction. Ms. Maloney clerked for the Honorable Fernando G. Gaitan, Jr., federal judge for the Western District of Missouri. She has also been a member of the Eighth Circuit Civil Jury Instructions Committee, where she worked with federal judges and practitioners to draft model jury instructions for civil trials. She was the Editor in Chief of the ABA Treatise supplement on the Fair Labor Standards Act for three years. Ms. Maloney has successfully tried numerous employment cases in different jurisdictions, and has handled several important appellate cases that have led to greater protections for employees.
