Catherine W. Smith

Catherine's practice is limited to civil appeals in Washington state and federal courts. Her broad appellate experience is reflected in hundreds of decisions, including Beauregard v. WSBA, 197 Wn.2d 67 (2021), in which she represented the State Bar, and Mohandessi v. Urban Venture, LLC, 13 Wn. App.2d 681 (2020). Catherine is editor-in-chief of the Washington Appellate Practice Deskbook, served as President of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and founded the Washington Appellate Lawyers Association.  Of her appearance before the U.S. Supreme Court in Troxel v. Granville, Dahlia Lithwick of Slate magazine reported, "she is one of the finest oral advocates I have ever seen."
