Top Rated Family Law Attorney in Seattle, WA
The founder of the Law Offices of Dawn Sydney, PLLC, Dawn Sydney focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters. She represents clients throughout King County from her office in Seattle, Washington, and she has been admitted to practice before all Washington state courts since 2011.
Prior to engaging in private practice, Ms. Sydney spent many years working for nonprofit organizations that dealt with child abuse and domestic violence. She testified before Congress and other legislative bodies on these subjects, and she worked with members of Congress and their staff on matters related to the Violence Against Women Act. This helped to spur Ms. Sydney’s interest in these types of family law matters, which she has to this day.
In addition to her representation of victims of domestic violence, Ms. Sydney spends a great deal of her time in providing advice and counsel to people whose marriages have come to an end. She works with them to reach an accord on such issues as property division, parenting time, and spousal and child support, taking a lead role in the negotiation of a comprehensive settlement agreement and advocating on their behalf in court if litigation proves to be necessary.
Other family law matters that Ms. Sydney has handled have included filing petitions for modifications to or the enforcement of existing support and parenting court orders, and she has prepared and reviewed prenuptial agreements. She has also been appointed as a guardian ad litem for children who are the subject of bitter custody disputes. Ms. Sydney is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, and she holds a Master of Public Administration from Seattle University.
