In 1990, Ms. Buie graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, after which she enrolled in the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Pursuing her interest in law, she completed her Juris Doctor in 1994. She has served as a clerk to the Honorable Judge Stanwood R. Duval Jr. at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and was appointed as guardian ad litem to the Snohomish County Superior Court and the King County Superior Court. 

Ms. Buie is an active member of various legal associations, including the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She has received extensive legal training, including completing the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and serving as treasurer of the Children and the Law Section of the Family Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
