Attorney Profile

Of counsel at McKinley Irvin, Gordon W. Wilcox focuses his practice exclusively on family law matters, and his successes in this area of law both in and out of the courtroom have earned him the esteem of his colleagues. The recipient of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell as well as a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo, Mr. Wilcox has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in this field of law each year since 1987. He has also been a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Layers since 1991.

Practicing out of the firm's office in Seattle, Washington, Mr. Wilcox provides astute and dedicated representation to clients throughout the area who are seeing their marriages come to an end and who are thus grappling to reach an agreement on such divorce-related matters as child custody and visitation, the division of complex marital assets and debts, and alimony and child support. He realizes that the divorce process can be an exceedingly stressful and emotional time for his clients, so he commences each case by analyzing the facts and information to make a determination on how best to proceed. This could include arguing one or more of these issues in front of a judge, but he often tries to help his clients reach a comprehensive settlement agreement through negotiations or mediation, thereby obviating the need for a combative courtroom battle.

Mr. Wilcox attended Yale University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. His legal education came at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1968. Admitted to practice before all Washington state courts, his memberships include the King County Bar Association.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
