James C. McGuire is a family law attorney in Seattle, Washington, with over 20 years of legal experience. Mr. McGuire is the founder of McGuire Law & Mediation and handles divorce, child custody and other family law matters, representing clients throughout the Seattle area. 

An accomplished litigator, Mr. McGuire is also trained in collaborative law. He has extensive experience using mediation and other techniques to help parties resolve their family law disputes in a no adversarial manner. He is committed to professional education and development and is a former speaker for groups, including the King County Bar Association and the National Business Institute.

Mr. McGuire graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He went on to obtain his law degree from Seattle University School of Law. While attending law school, he received awards for his academic achievements, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers and was regional champion in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

After law school, Mr. McGuire practiced law in California before returning to Seattle and opening McGuire Law & Mediation. He is qualified to practice law before Washington and California state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the Tulalip Tribal Court, part of the Northwest Intertribal Court System.

Active in the King County Bar Association, Mr. McGuire serves as an attorney mentor in the Family Law Mentor Program, a volunteer attorney with the domestic violence clinic and a volunteer mediator and master attorney with the Volunteer Family Law Settlement Conference Program. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and board member of the QLaw Association.
