Janet A. George

Of counsel at McKinley Irvin and based in its office in Seattle, Washington, Janet A. George focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters. Providing representation to clients throughout the state, she assists people who are facing the end of their marriages and are trying to resolve divorce-related issues while dealing with the emotions and stress that this time of their lives can often bring. The sensitivity in which Ms. George handles these matters along with her high degree of ethics have earned her the high regard of her peers. Although she is well-versed in most family law matters, Ms. George has chosen to limit her practice to complex high-asset divorces, with her clients including professional athletes, attorneys, health care practitioners, and business owners and executives. These types of cases can involve many complex issues, including the valuation of business interests during property division as well as determining what assets are subject to equitable distribution as opposed to being sole property of the higher earning spouse. Ms. George often helps her clients reach an accord through mediation, although she is an aggressive and effective courtroom advocate when necessary.

Ms. George boasts an eclectic and impressive background in addition to her skills as an attorney. She has been a blackjack dealer and a pilot, and she has an interest in the breeding and showing of quarter horses. Admitted to practice before all Washington state courts, she holds a Master of Arts in psychiatric nursing from the University of Washington in addition to her Juris Doctor that she obtained at what was formerly known as the University of Puget Sound School of Law.
