Jennifer Atwood

Jennifer Atwood is a partner at Muth Atwood, PLLC, in Seattle, Washington. She has dedicated her career to criminal defense across Western Washington. She has extensive experience representing clients facing both felony and misdemeanor allegations and has secured acquittals, dismissals and favorable resolutions in highly contested cases.

Over the past several years, Ms. Atwood has concentrated much of her practice on juvenile representation. Before co-founding her firm, she served as a senior attorney in the juvenile division of the King County Department of Public Defense. That role gave her daily courtroom experience representing children, which shaped her deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by young clients. She has worked with adolescents coping with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, mental illness, substance abuse, attention disorders and issues involving problematic sexual behavior.

Ms. Atwood is particularly interested in research on adolescent brain development, the effects of trauma on behavior and the importance of rehabilitation over incarceration for youthful offenders. This perspective has guided her approach and contributed to strong outcomes for her clients.

While she is known for her juvenile work, Ms. Atwood is also an accomplished trial lawyer for adults facing serious charges. She has successfully defended individuals accused of offenses including child molestation, sexual assault, unlawful imprisonment, domestic violence, harassment and violations of protective orders. Her ability to navigate complex evidence, cross-examine expert witnesses, and advocate persuasively before juries has earned her a reputation as a formidable defense attorney.

Ms. Atwood earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Seattle University. She is admitted to practice in Washington state, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
