Jennifer Cannon-Unione

The founding partner of Dixon & Cannon, Ltd., attorney Jennifer Cannon-Unione is a relentless and seasoned litigator in Seattle, Washington. Her legal interests have swayed toward representing the rights of clients who are facing criminal charges and other civil disputes throughout Washington. 

A cum laude graduate of the University at Buffalo, Ms. Cannon-Unione majored in American history and completed her Bachelor of Arts in 1991. She earned her Juris Doctor in 1996 from Suffolk University Law School and obtained her license to practice law in Washington in 1997 and later in Arizona. 

During law school, Ms. Cannon-Unione served as a volunteer for the Shelter Legal Services Foundation and Boston Partners in Education. She took part in the Tom C. Clark Appellate Advocacy Competition, among others and also participated in many seminars across Seattle to hone her trial skills. 

Early in her career, Ms. Cannon-Unione worked as a public defender in the greater Seattle area and gained valuable experience prosecuting criminal cases in municipal, district and Superior Courts. She entered private practice in 2001, where she defended insurance policyholders in their personal injury cases. 

Armed with this experience, Ms. Cannon-Unione efficiently tackles her clients’ cases based on their unique needs. She has distinguished herself as a staunch and equipped professional, refusing to give up or back down from a fight. She is, perhaps, well-known for her work in matters involving complex domestic violence, restraining orders, health care and immigration issues.

Ms. Cannon-Unione’s accomplishments in the legal profession have yielded her many honors and awards. For her high ethical standards and professional excellence, she has been peer-review rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell. Furthermore, she is rated 10 out of 10 on Avvo in addition to receiving many five-star ratings on the platform. 

Professional development and connections within the legal community are critical to Ms. Cannon-Unione. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, the State Bar of Arizona, the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Washington Defenders Association. 

A former member of the WSBA’s Disciplinary Advisory Roundtable Committee, Ms. Cannon-Unione was a part of the Washington Women Lawyers – Judicial Evaluations Committee. Additionally, she volunteers her services for those in need through the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association (MAMAS) – Seattle Chapter.
